Overview

One of the world’s best-known theatre ensembles, the Royal Shakespeare Company performs the works of Shakespeare, his contemporaries and new writing, throughout the year in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Showcasing two thrust stage auditoria, the 1,000 seat Royal Shakespeare Theatre and 450 seat Swan Theatre, bring audiences and actors closer together in the best possible setting to experience live theatre.

By car Stratford-upon-Avon is a short drive from Junction 15 of the M40, giving good access to the M42, M5, M6 and M25.

Parking There is a large choice of fee-charging car parks in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Disabled parking There are seven disabled parking spaces on Waterside directly outside the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and ten bays on Chapel Lane, the road opposite the Swan Theatre. These spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Southern Lane also has on-road parking for blue badge holders; the ten parking bays at the side and rear of The Other Place are still available. There is a car drop off point directly outside the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and a coach drop off point just past the Swan Theatre.

By train There is a direct service to Stratford-upon-Avon train station from Birmingham (Snow Hill or Moor Street stations). Last train back to Birmingham, Monday – Friday, at 11.30pm. Chiltern Railways provide services from London Marylebone (via Warwick, Warwick Parkway, Leamington Spa, Banbury and Bicester North), with last train back to London, Monday – Friday, at 11.15pm. By air Stratford-upon-Avon is 27 miles from Birmingham Airport and 60 miles from East Midlands Airport. It is also convenient for Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports to the south.

Group Visits Group ticket discounts are available for all Monday to Friday performances, for Theatre Tours, for the award-winning interactive exhibition The Play’s the Thing and for the viewing Tower. There is a range of exclusive tour packages available for groups, starting at just £189 for a group of 20, combining a Front of House Tour followed by morning coffee with pastries or a cream tea.

Accessibility

There is level access to all RSC buildings.

There are lifts to all floors and accessible toilets on all levels of the theatre.

The RSC offers captioned, and audio described and British sign language interpreted performances along with touch tours for all RSC productions, helping to enhance your experience at the theatre.

The Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres are fitted with an induction loop, as is the Box Office, cloakroom, stage door and shop counters.

Hearing and Guide dogs are welcome into the buildings, and auditoria.

Fully licensed for wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships, the Royal Shakespeare Company offer a stunning setting for a perfect celebration.

Stand in the footprints of famous actors past and present and take your vows centre stage in one of the auditoria, or travel 100 feet above the winding River Avon and enjoy the views from the viewing tower, in the most unusual ceremony room in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Nine other licensed spaces are available throughout the building including the charming ‘Round Room’ – a unique circular ceremony room seating 18 guests.

With an on-site catering team, dedicated Event Managers and the spectacular Rooftop Restaurant with unparalleled views across the River Avon, the Royal Shakespeare Theatres offer truly unique and magical spaces to celebrate your special day. Renewal of Vows and Naming Ceremonies are also catered for.
