I was born in Warwickshire, in a picturesque village, and have lived there all my life. It was the perfect county to grow up and live in, with so much to see and do. My childhood memories include playing at the adventure playground at Ragley Hall, holding butterflies at Stratford Butterfly Farm, being fascinated by the dungeons at Warwick Castle, feeding the animals at Mary Arden’s Farm; the list goes on……

Warwickshire is relatively small in size and the towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth are in close proximity to each other surrounded by glorious rolling countryside. There is so much to experience and all within a short distance, whether it’s historic homes, castles, gardens, art galleries, museums, parks, waterways, theatre, festivals, shopping and restaurants. Warwickshire really does have it all. My weekends have always been spent visiting attractions, seeing a new exhibition or play, eating at some new restaurant, shopping or going to a special event or festival – there is always something going on.

Five years ago, my husband and I decided to buy a holiday home in Cornwall. Being a renovation project, we decided to complete the work more quickly by moving into it!  So back in 2010, we left Warwickshire, albeit temporarily.  As much as we have loved Cornwall and living the dream by the sea, we have missed home and are moving back this summer.  Even with its stunning coastline, picturesque fishing villages, attractions such as The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall can’t compete with Warwickshire and all it has to offer.  Warwickshire might not have the sea, but it has beautiful rivers and canals. It might not have beaches, but it has stunning parks and gardens. I can’t wait to return and start planning weekend’s sightseeing and re-discovering places I used to visit. I can’t wait to have so much choice right on my doorstep. I might have left for four years but I will always be a Warwickshire girl at heart and I am looking forward to my homecoming!
