If you’re looking for things to do over the Easter holidays – with or without children – there’s certainly plenty of choice on offer in Shakespeare’s Stratford.

For starters, budding thespians can enjoy two weeks of Easter-themed workshops with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Easter Holiday Family Fun runs from 21st March to 1st April and covers a wide range of activities from crafts, dressing up and storytelling to acting, dance and stage fighting. Some are free drop-in sessions, while others are pre-bookable.

There’s also a host of family fun activities taking place at The Old Slaughterhouse this Easter. With Mad Hatter’s crafts, a family tea party and a scavenger egg hunt around the town to choose from, the whole family will be kept entertained. And if you’re mechanically minded you’re sure to relish an Easter egg hunt with a difference at The MAD Museum – Warwickshire’s craziest museum.

Meanwhile, across the river, you can discover the world of butterflies and mini-beasts this Easter at Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm. During the holidays, there’ll be daily demonstrations on a variety of subjects, as well as handling sessions when you can get up close and personal with some amazing creatures.

Of course, Easter in Stratford is also celebrated in style in the various Shakespeare houses. Maybe you fancy a Tudor song and dance – washed down with a glass of ale – at Shakespeare’s Birthplace, learning about Tudor fashions at Hall’s Croft or meeting the Tudors at Mary Arden’s Farm. If food is more your thing, you might prefer to learn how to bake the ‘old fashioned way’ at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage or design your own marzipan treats at Harvard House.

Stratford-upon-Avon is a great place to visit at any time of the year, but with so much going on this Easter you’re in for a real treat!
