Celebrate Christmas from 1 December – 7 January at the Shakespeare Family Homes in Stratford-upon-Avon. Enjoy a mesmerising dance-circus performance at Shakespeare’s New Place, meet Santa Claus and decorate your very own Christmas biscuit, and discover how the Hathaway’s celebrated Christmas during their 400 years of living at the cottage.

 

Indulge in a very Tudor Feast this winter at Shakespeare’s Birthplace. Discover how the Tudors celebrated Christmas and try the foods they enjoyed during the festive season with Sharon Lippett, our resident Tudor guide.

 

Come along to Shakespeare’s New Place and make your own Shakespeare-inspired Christmas decorations to take home with you.

 

Celebrate Christmas the Jacobean way at Hall’s Croft. Take part in the Jacobean tradition of seasonal good tidings by writing a special message in a bottle to wish loved ones a very merry Christmas.

 

Travel through time at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and discover 400 years of Christmas within the Hathaway family, plus make your own paper lanterns and paper chains to help decorate the house.

Midwinter Dance Festival

Shakespeare’s New Place, Stratford-upon-Avon

13 – 17 December 2017

This winter, Shakespeare’s New Place, the site of Shakespeare’s adult home in Stratford-upon- Avon is set to be transformed into a magical dance-circus extravaganza that promises to delight, surprise and excite.

 

From 13 – 17 December, performers from award-winning dance-circus company, Motionhouse, will seemingly glide through the contemporary gardens of New Place ready to enthral audiences with exciting acrobatic sequences, each inspired by Shakespeare’s work. Through hyper modern dance and contemporary soundtracks they will tell tales of the timeless themes of Shakespeare. The event is designed to be a visual and physical feast, with pure skill, spectacle and magical storytelling – a truly immersive after-dark theatrical experience. After Hours -Tudor Christmas

The Shakespeare Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon

Have a very merry Tudor Christmas this year at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust as part of our After Hours events programme. Let our resident Tudor guide Sharon Lippett reveal the Christmas traditions that shaped a Tudor household and try the foods that adorned the Christmas day table(Tickets: £8 per person)

 

Father Christmas at Hall’s Croft

Hall’s Croft, Old Town, Stratford-upon-Avon

16 & 17 December, 12pm – 4pm

Father Christmas has travelled back in time to teach the Jacobite’s the wonders of Santa Claus. Little boys and girls can meet St Nick and receive a special personalised gift and take part in hands on activities. (Tickets: £8 per child, adult goes free. Price includes Christmas biscuit decorating activity in the café)

 

Christmas Critters with Zoolab

Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Bring your Shakespearian learning to life with the help of some curious creatures at the ZooLab Tudor Storytelling Workshop. See, meet and touch the animals that would have crossed Shakespeare’s path.

Christmas Wassail Tour
