The streets of Warwick come alive from 21-24 July with the return of the annual Warwick Folk Festival! This vibrant four-day music & dance extravaganza has something for young and old, making it a fabulous day out for families looking for festival fun!

The popular event, which brings together leading names from around the world, has something for everyone – from dedicated folk fans to music lovers who are discovering that ‘folk’ covers a wide range of styles including blues, rock, country and funk.

This year’s headliners include award-winning sister act, The Unthanks, who won ‘Best Album’ at this year’s Radio 2 Folk Awards, and Show of Hands, one of the leading forces in British folk, well known for their sell-out Albert Hall concerts with their popular and incisive song writing.

The festival’s main site, located at Warwick School, has a wonderful array of family-friendly activities to keep the little ones amused. The site is safe, spacious and – being on school playing fields – ideal for children.

With family entertainment such as circus workshops, puppet shows, forest school and craft activities, plus a host of music & dance workshops, it means that kids will never be short of things to do. And if they’re happy – so are you! What’s more, Under-10s go free.

For teens, Shooting Roots, a folk arts organisation run by and for young people are organising a programme of performances and activities for anyone aged 12-25. Whatever the instrument at whatever level, they’ll find a home in the Shooting Roots Funky World Band!

While they are amused, you might like to sneak off and browse the diverse craft stalls, grab a bite to eat from the global food market or enjoy a glass of fizz in the wine lounge. On the other hand, head to the beer tent if real ale and traditional cider is more your thing.

Meanwhile, up in the town centre, an extensive programme of live music, dance displays, street theatre, markets and parades adds to a real holiday atmosphere. Watch the Morris dancers, listen to the storytellers, sway to those Samba rhythms, take part in a workshop, join in with a session, jump up and down to some fantastic live bands in the Market Place – or, even better, do it all!

With its chilled-out ambience, colourful parades, musical entertainment and many have-a-go activities, Warwick Folk Festival makes the perfect family day out!

Choose from weekend tickets, with or without camping, or just come for the day! Tickets can be booked online and over the phone from the Bridge House Theatre box office on 01926 776438. For more information please visit www.warwickfolkfestival.co.uk
