Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the family home of Shakespeare’s bride-to-be, is the most romantic of the Shakespeare houses.
Savour the rural beauty of the place where Anne grew up and lived for many years. The pretty thatched farmhouse has stunning grounds and gardens, overflowing with fragrant blooms and traditional shrubs during the summer months.
The location where William courted his future bride is in Shottery, a hamlet within the parish of Stratford-upon-Avon. Just over one mile from the town centre, it can be easily accessed via a pleasant, well sign-posted footpath.
Explore this charming old cottage, home to the Hathaway’s for 400 years. See some of the original family furniture, including the Hathaway four-poster bed and the courting settle.
Enjoy nine acres of beautiful cottage gardens, orchards, woodland walks and sculpture trails.
