Lunt Roman Fort

Take a trip back in timeIt’s A.D. 60; the Iceni of East Anglia led by the legendary Boudica have rebelled against Roman rule and have just been defeated in a terrible battle fought somewhere in the Midlands. As a result, the Romans are building a series of fortifications across the Midlands, including the Lunt.

Come and explore this partially reconstructed timber fort. Stand on the ramparts, explore the exhibition in the granary and imagine yourself training horses in the gyrus – a feature not found anywhere else in the Roman Empire.

Visitor Info

Coach parking is available on the Lunt site. Please advise your coach driver to approach the Lunt from the direction of Rowley Road (East of the Fort). If they approach from the other direction (from Mill Hill to the West) they will be unable to turn into the car park. Coaches must not be parked in the surrounding roads at any time.

Limited car parking is available at the Lunt.

The best way to get to the Lunt by public transport is on the Number 539 bus from Pool Meadow Bus Station (which also visits the railway station).

The bus stops at Baginton Post Office (about half a mile away) but you can ask for it to stop outside the fort.  On leaving the fort, you may prefer to take the Number 580.

For more information please visit the Johnson’s Coaches.
