Afternoon tea will be available as a takeaway and delivery service at a top hotel is launching to provide tasty treats for the region.

Contactless delivery and takeaway is launching for indulgent afternoon tea created by chefs at Coombe Abbey Hotel on Saturday, June 20.

The Abbot’s afternoon tea at Coombe Abbey was included in the Telegraph’s list of top places to visit for the treat in the UK, and will now be available for people to enjoy again, despite the hotel remaining closed under the government’s guidelines.

The traditional menu will include a selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones and delicious cakes, for £20.00 per person, and will be available to collect seven days a week with time slots pre-bookable for collection.

All orders will be taken online with people able to collect the food from the hotel, which is also offering delivery services for the treats on weekends within a ten-mile radius of the hotel, costing £25.00 per person.

Once the hotel re-opens, orders can also be taken through the app, as part of its plan to invest in technology to enhance the experience of staying at Coombe Abbey, while maintaining social distancing regulations.

The hotel received an overwhelming response when guests were asked if they would like to have a takeaway service for afternoon tea, with many wanting to use the service to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea for celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries from home during lockdown.

The hotel previously donated all its surplus ingredients from its afternoon tea to frontline NHS workers at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire after closing due to the pandemic.

Ron Terry, General Manager at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “Coombe Abbey Hotel is renowned for its indulgent afternoon tea and seeing the initial response from guests, it’s clear that people across the county are looking for a traditional afternoon tea service to enjoy a delicious treat during lockdown.

“Many people are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions, so this service will offer people something to look forward to and enjoy as a treat.

“Orders can be made seven days a week and guests can drive down to the turning circle to collect their order safely.

“For those looking at delivery options, we can deliver within a ten-mile radius of the hotel on weekends, which will cost £25.00 and with each order people can pick a one-hour delivery slot.

“We are also looking at ways to keep our guests and staff safe when we are allowed to reopen, which is a priority for us over the next few weeks.

“Coombe Abbey Park remains open for guests to enjoy the 500 acres of land, but we are urging people to continue following social distances measures – it is the perfect place to enjoy the afternoon tea as a picnic as well!

“We hope everyone can safely enjoy afternoon tea at Coombe again and we look forward to welcoming back our guests once it is safe for us to do so.”
