Go Ape! Coventry has launched Axe Throwing, a fun and challenging 60-minute activity in the great outdoors, for those who want to get their lumberjack kicks in the forest.

Designed to offer a competitive ground-based activity which can be combined with time in the trees, Axe Throwing is perfect for those who want to extend their day at Go Ape or who just want to try something completely different.

The activity adds a competitive element to a day out at Go Ape, located in Coombe Abbey, as individuals and groups are challenged to achieve the highest score. Following training to get to grips with throwing and getting the axe to stick, thrill-seekers will take part in a scoring tournament, known as Bowling, by throwing axes into a target.

Two different throwing lanes will be in action at once, and sessions can be adapted to cater to all abilities and expectations.

Luke Parker, site manager at Go Ape Coventry, says: “We’re so excited to be the first Go Ape site to offer Axe Throwing. It’s a unique experience and loads of fun and I know our visitors will love it. It’s a great activity to try with a group of friends and people get really competitive trying to hit the bullseye, and there are lots of laughs too. It offers visitors the chance to try something completely different and have fun in the process.”

Richard Harrison, managing director of Coombe Abbey Park Limited, which operates the hotel and cafes within the park and partnered with Go Ape on the course, added: “Go Ape has already become an integral part of the park and is proving a huge draw with visitors.

“After just a few months since opening, I am thrilled that Go Ape is already investing new attractions and the fact that we are the first site to get this is very exciting.

“I’m sure that the Axe Throwing will be just as popular as the course and add something completely new for everyone.”

Located within 500 acres of the historic woodlands of Coombe Abbey, Go Ape opened its Treetop Challenge for adults and teenagers in April, followed by its Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure+ for younger customers in May.

Axe Throwing is now available to book at Go Ape Coventry. It costs £12 for adults (18+). Booking in advance is always recommended to make sure you get the session you want as well as the best price.
