Avon Boating

Rivers & Canals

Created by Shakespeare's England

on

The serenely beautiful waterways of Warwickshire are the perfect way to stop, relax, and simply enjoy the idyllic surroundings at the heart of England. Take a leisurely cruise with Avon Boating – named after the great river which flows through Stratford – and take in the lush green parkland, flower gardens, and weeping willows that line the water.

Of course, there’s more to see in Stratford than the idyllic English greenery, and cruising along the Avon you’ll go past some of Stratford’s – and England’s – most iconic sights, like the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare’s tomb lies.

Common sights throughout Warwickshire are the canal boats which visit the county to cruise the famous ‘Warwickshire ring’, a circuit of canals which takes in Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Birmingham, Coventry, and other areas in the West Midlands, with the decoration of the boats ranging from beautifully quaint to wonderfully quirky. The banks of the canal make the ideal place for an afternoon stroll, a bicycle ride, or a picnic – a perfect change of pace from the vibrancy of Shakespeare’s England’s towns.

From the old boathouse on the edge of the river bank, it hires out rowing boats, punts, and self-drive motor boats for those wanting to explore the further reaches of the river independently.
